Station Guide
Tokyo Station is the busiest station in Japan and the primary gateway to the Shinkansen network. With 28 platforms serving over 3,000 trains daily, it is a city within a city — complete with shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, and even an art museum.
💡 Tip: Allow 20 minutes for platform transfers. The Shinkansen gates are on the Yaesu side.
The Marunouchi Central Exit leads to the Imperial Palace area and the historic red-brick Marunouchi building. The Yaesu Central Exit connects to Nihonbashi, Ginza, and the modern commercial district. The underground Tokyo Station City connects both sides.
JR Yamanote Line, Chuo Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, Sobu Line, Yokosuka Line, Shinkansen (Tokaido, Tohoku, Joetsu, Hokuriku, Yamagata, Akita). Nearby: Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, Tozai Line, Chiyoda Line (via underground passages).
Tokyo Ramen Street on the Yaesu side (B1) offers 8 popular ramen shops including Rokurinsha (tsukemen) and Hirugao (shio ramen). The Kitchen Street (B1) has over 30 restaurants. For a splurge, try the Tokyo Station Hotel's afternoon tea in the historic building.
